2024: By the Numbers

Dubuque Trees Forever plants trees in our community while connecting with organizations and residents to increase knowledge and understanding about the benefits trees provide.
In 2024, we celebrated our 8th year. We are an important partner with the City of Dubuque as they launch the Branching Out Program, funded by the US Forest Service to help plant more than 5,000 in Dubuque over the next 5 years.

We continued to grow our volunteer base, welcome new board members, increase the number of partner organizations, strengthen relationships with corporate partners, and secure funding from a variety of sources to support our work.

2024: By the Numbers is presented below as a high level overview of this year’s achievements.

  • 635 volunteer hours

+162 hours non-planting time (meetings and events)

    +167 tree care hours

    +129 garden care hours

    +177 planting hours

    =635 Total volunteer hours

  • 313 Volunteers

313 volunteers joined us to plant trees in Dubuque in 2024. Some of these volunteers helped out on more than one occasion, which, to us, is a sign that they had a good experience and want to support our work. We also had many first-time planters that are now trained and ready to help in the future. Together we are building a large group of experienced volunteers to make each project even better.

  • 2nd Annual Arbor Day Celebration

We held our second annual Arbor Day Celebration at the Neighborhood Orchard. Our event included the planting of 2 apple trees, poetry contest and sidewalk chalk activities for families.

  • 61 Trees Planted

We planted 61 trees throughout the community including the Bee Branch Trailhead, Four Mounds, Alta Vista Campus, and fruit trees at the Neighborhood Orchard.
